Magnificent Magnolia: Volunteer Guide

Thank you for being a part of our volunteer community!

While the Magnolias are beautiful to behold, they also provide our interpretive volunteers such as docents and guides an opportunity to connect with our visitors around key interpretive themes:

• Magnolia Pollination. Magnolias are part of one of the earliest flowering plant lineages. Their unique adaptations for beetle pollination help us tell the story of pollination and how pollinator/plant relationships evolve. 

• Magnolia Conservation. SFBG and botanical gardens across the world are actively involved in Magnolia conservation, giving us hope for the future of threatened Magnolia species and providing a model for plant conservation.
