Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026 · Contact setnik.app@gmail.com
Setnik helps you discover live music. This policy explains what the Android app collects, where it goes, and how to delete it. We wrote it from what the app actually does. We do not sell your information, do not show ads, and do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools. We keep our own anonymous usage statistics, which you can switch off in Settings.
Summary
Browsing shows needs no account and sends nothing about you to us.
If you sign in to add or confirm community shows, we store your email address and the content you submit.
Your location, Going list, filters, reminders and notifications stay on your phone (the optional anonymous "N going" counts are the one exception, below). Notifications are made on your phone from listings it has already downloaded.
The app sends anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used) tied to a random id, not to you. Turn this off in Settings, Share anonymous usage data, and the events already sent are deleted.
"N going" counts: if you mark a show Going, the app sends a random id (made on your phone, not linked to your account, email or usage id) and the show id, so a show can display how many installs are going once more than 15 are. Turn this off in Settings, Include my Going in public counts, and the phone's rows are deleted.
If you send feedback, we store your message and, only if you enter one, your email.
You can delete your account inside the app or on the web: how.
What the app handles
Data
Why
Where it goes
Email address (only if you sign in)
Sign-in with a one-time code; no password.
Stored by Supabase, our database and sign-in provider. Used to send the code. Never shown to other people.
Shows you submit (bands, venue, date, price, links you add, genres)
To list community shows for everyone once a second person confirms.
Stored by Supabase. Visible to other signed-in people (while waiting) and to everyone (once confirmed), without your name or email.
Confirmations, reports, blocks
Community safety and moderation.
Stored by Supabase, linked to your account. Only you see your blocks. We review reports.
Terms acceptance (version and time)
Record that you accepted the Terms before posting.
Stored by Supabase, linked to your account.
Approximate device location (only if you allow it)
Pick the nearest covered city and sort by distance.
Read once on your phone and kept only on your phone. It is not sent to us or anyone else. You can choose a city by hand instead.
Notifications (only if you allow them)
Reminders for shows you mark Going, and two kinds of heads-up: new shows added in your city, and shows on tonight. Each can be turned off in Settings, and they are never sent more than once a day.
Created and scheduled on your phone, using the listings already downloaded and the city and filters you chose. The count of shows and the genre in a heads-up are worked out on your phone, and your Going swipes are used on your phone only to pick the genre. Nothing about you is sent to a server or a push service to make them. Android decides when the app may check in the background, so a heads-up can arrive late or not at all.
Calendar
Add a show to your calendar.
Setnik opens your phone's own new-event screen. It cannot read your calendar and has no calendar permission.
Anonymous usage events (app opened, screens viewed, swipes Going or Pass, filters or city changed, show details opened, calendar adds, Community actions, permission answers, and for notifications only that one was scheduled or opened, or a notification setting was switched on or off, with the kind, "new shows" or "tonight") with app version and Android version
Understand how the app is used and fix problems.
Sent to our Supabase project, tagged with a random install id generated on your phone. The id is not linked to your account, email, advertising id or device identifiers, and events contain no band or show names, free text or location. Only we can read them. Switch off in Settings; switching off deletes events already sent.
Going counts (a random "going id" made on your phone, the id of each show you mark Going, and that show's date)
Show an anonymous "N going" number on a show. The count is of app installs, not people: one phone is one install, and reinstalling or resetting creates a new id.
Sent to our Supabase project when you mark a show Going or remove it, and queued on the phone if you are offline. Nothing else is sent: no name, email, account, usage id, location or device identifier. The going id is separate from the anonymous usage id and from your account, so these rows cannot be linked to either. Nobody, including us, can list who is going to a show: the tables cannot be read by the app, only counted by the server. A number is shown only when it is 16 or more (more than 15); smaller numbers never leave the server. Rows are deleted 7 days after the show's date and no history of counts is kept. Switch off in Settings, Include my Going in public counts: that deletes this phone's rows and stops sending; turning it back on sends your current Going list again. Deleting your account does not touch these rows because they are not linked to the account; use the switch or Reset all data (which also deletes this phone's rows). We can also pause counts for everyone, which stops sending and deletes all rows.
Sending a show to a friend
Share a show's details as plain text through Android's share sheet.
The text is built on your phone from show details the app already has and handed to the app you pick. Nothing is sent to us. We record only that a share was started, from the details screen or the Going list, without show, artist or message content.
Feedback you send (type, message, optional email you enter, app version, Android version, device model)
Read and answer bug reports and ideas.
Stored in our Supabase project, readable only by us. We use your email only to reply.
Going list, passed shows, filters, settings, saved listings, sign-in session
Make the app work and remember your choices.
Stored on your phone only (app storage). Cleared by Settings, Reset all data, or uninstalling.
Band names from the shows you see
Find a 30-second preview and an artist photo.
Sent to Deezer (api.deezer.com), which receives the band name and your IP address.
Requests for listings and images
Download show listings and flyer images.
Listings come from GitHub (releases of this project). Flyer and event images load from the image servers of listing providers (JamBase), venue websites and Deezer. Each of them sees your IP address and device details in the ordinary way a web request works.
Flyers and links you share (text recognised from the flyer on your phone, with the venue, date and artists it contains; the link you shared; the city; your anonymous or signed-in account id)
Turn a flyer into a show listing, confirm it, and tell you when it goes live.
The flyer image is read on your phone and is never uploaded. Only recognised text (with emails, phone numbers, social handles and social links removed on your phone first) is sent to our Supabase project and, to pick out the show details, to Google's Gemini API on its free tier. Under the free tier terms, Google may use what is sent and what comes back to improve its products and human reviewers may read it, so do not share a flyer with text you would not want that to apply to. We do not send images to Google. Anonymous submissions use a temporary account with no email.
Public venue pages
List shows from venues' own event pages.
Our server reads public event pages (obeying robots.txt) and stores show facts and a link to the page. No personal data is collected.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone audio, advertising ID, precise location, payment information or your phone's identifiers, and the app has no advertising, third-party analytics or crash-reporting service.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. These services process data to run the app:
Supabase (supabase.com): database and sign-in for community features. Our project is hosted in the United States (us-west-2).
Google (Gemini API, free tier): receives recognised flyer text (never images) and venue page text to extract show details. See the flyer row above for the terms that apply.
Deezer: previews and artist photos (band names, IP address).
GitHub: hosts listing files and app downloads.
JamBase: source of show data and ticket links.
Our email sender for sign-in codes: Gmail (Google).
We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
Account and community data: until you delete your account, or until we remove it for breaking the Terms.
Shows nobody confirmed: shown only to signed-in people until the date passes, and stored until you delete your account or we remove them.
Reports: kept while needed for moderation, and deleted with the accounts they involve.
Server logs kept by our hosting providers follow their own retention periods.
Flyer submissions: the recognised text is deleted 14 days after processing finishes; the resulting show, its status and the job record are kept up to 90 days (job record) and the show until the date passes or you or we remove it. Deleting your account deletes your flyer jobs and any show only you supplied.
Going counts: each row 7 days after the show's date, or immediately if you switch off Include my Going in public counts. Counts are kept only as a running total per show, with no history.
Anonymous usage events: up to 14 months, or until you turn off sharing usage data in Settings.
Feedback: up to 24 months, or until you ask us to delete it.
On-device data: until you reset the app or uninstall it.
Your choices and rights
Delete your account and data in the app or by email: instructions.
Access or correct your data: email setnik.app@gmail.com. Your email address and the shows you added are the only account data we hold.
Going counts: turn off Settings, Include my Going in public counts, to delete this phone's rows and stop sending.
Usage data: turn it off in Settings, Share anonymous usage data. Feedback: email setnik.app@gmail.com to see or delete a message you sent.
Permissions: location and notifications are optional and can be turned off in Android settings at any time. In Settings you can also turn off each kind of notification and send yourself a test.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you can ask us to tell you what we hold, delete it, or correct it. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, and we do not discriminate against people who use these rights.
If you live in Canada, you can ask for access to or correction of your personal information, withdraw consent by deleting your account, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial regulator. Our privacy contact is setnik.app@gmail.com. Your data is stored in the United States.
Security
Connections to our servers use HTTPS. Access to community data is restricted by database rules so people can read only what they are allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
Setnik is for people 18 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe someone under 18 gave us data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page when the app changes how it handles data and change the effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app.
