This event was hosted before we began our social media campaign but through our immediate community, we were able to create a photobooth for mental health day! It also fell under Breast Cancer Awareness month and so people dressed up in wigs at school which created an even more eccentric environment!
A fun activity we did throughout an entire week in November was a Kindness Bingo! We distributed a paper copy to whoever wanted one in the morning of that Monday and throughout the week, students were encouraged to tick off at least one a day. By the end of the week, whoever blacked out their board received a mini self care bag filled with uplifting messages, candy, and some skincare!
Our HOSA chapter had the fortunate opportunity to visit the Blood Bank, We Are Blood, in Austin! Before visiting, we researched more about hospitalized patients who suffered from eating disorders and we learned that they are more prone to anemia. Typically they'll need blood transfusions when it gets severe so we decided to pitch this idea as a study trip! We came to find out that there was a shortage, and a lot of our HOSA members got to test themselves to see if they were eligible to donate!
"Grab It, Pop It, Read It!"
This is a service project that we've been working on since November. Many of our community members helped create origami stars that had uplifting messages written in them! By the end of December, our whole jar was filled and when we came back from winter break, we created a promo video so that people could come and grab a star whenever they needed one!
