After dealing with our own fair share of problems in our relationship with food, we decided to spread awareness on the subject of eating disorders. These days we see eating disorders are becoming more and more normalized; not only are they more normalized but also encouraged. The more comments that are made on someone's body the more pressure we feel to fit societal standards which can heavily impact someone's mental health. Spreading awareness to this may not be a direct solution, the more informed people are on the matter the better conversations will go.

After many failed attempts at getting in touch with a dietitian or a nutritionist we realized for our project it would be best to have someone on campus, someone who knows our school community best. For this role we asked Mrs. Nekeida Pierce, our high school counselor and dual credit psychology teacher.
She is perfectly qualified having a Masters in Psychology and has been working at NYOS for over a decade, she has seen the patterns and how students in our school have struggled with their mental health and eating disorders.
