This page is a resource for Interpreter Educators and ASL teachers who are interested in service learning. The content discussed and resources provided are based on Dr. Sherry Shaw's book Service Learning in Interpreter Education: Strategies for Extending Student Involvement in the Deaf Community.
April 28-29, 2018 marked the first Service Learning in Interpreter Education Symposium, in which higher education institutions from Maryland and the District of Columbia participated in a two-day educational workshop on service learning.
This website is a resource and community for participants of the Symposium, a well as other educators wishing to learn more about service learning in interpreter education. Your participation and feedback on the contents of this site are welcome, as the goal is for this to be a useful community space for all educators.
