Consider starting with a standard.

Choose a part of a standard and build a game from that point.

This is backwards building, find the need by your audience and then build the product. This will help to ensure that you have content that is needed and would be used by your audience.

You may find ways to mix a science standard with a social studies standard to create a cross cutting concept, essential to the Common Core Standards.

After you have built the game - rec-ommunicate how the standard has been achieved.
