Robina station opened as the terminus of the Gold Coast line on 31 May 1998. The line was later extended to Varsity Lakes on 13 December 2009.
Robina station was named after the homonymous suburb of Robina. It was named after Robin Loh who was a Singaporean real estate developer who purchased 20 square kilometres of land to develop into housing where the suburb now sits.
Robina station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is for outbound services and platform 2 is for inbound services.
Robina station has only three entrances which one is from the bus interchange, one is from the carpark on Bayberry Lane and one is from the carpark on Robina Station Road.
Robina does have disability access.
There is a bus interchange outside the station serving nearby suburbs. The routes serving Robina station are routes 747 (to Southport), 748, 750 (to Broadbeach South), 751 (to Broadbeach South), 752 (to Broadbeach South) 755 (to Broadbeach South), 758 and 759.
