SENIA Teacher Rep Responsibilities are:
Serve as a member of your SENIA Local Chapter: Participate in local SENIA meetings and events
Act as a resource for the SENIA Board: Provide information about inclusive practices in your country and school; recommend potential speakers for SENIA Conferences promote the SENIA student award/SENIA advocate award; encourage your school to consider hosting a future SENIA conference
Distribute information to your faculty and administration about upcoming SENIA conferences: Information will be communicated by the SENIA board and can be found on the SENIA Website
Attend SENIA Conferences: SENIA Teacher Reps are strongly encouraged to attend SENIA conferences. If you cannot attend, please inform the SENIA Board ahead of time and ask another person from your school attending the conference to fill in as TR
Work with potential conference presenters from your school: You are encouraged to work with and provide feedback to potential presenters from your school. This could be accomplished by having the potential presenters share their proposals with you ahead of submitting the proposal to the SENIA Board, and/or going through a “dry run” of the presentation with the presenter chosen from your school before the conference.
Advise conference delegates: Advise delegates from your school to download all handouts from the conference website, if available, before coming to the conference (when conference is in person)
Provide share out options after conferences: Provide options for sharing information learned at SENIA Conferences with the teachers at your school. This could include making a presentation at a faculty meeting, hosting an after school share session, sending out a newsletter with attachments/links, etc.
Support and advocate for inclusive practices: Share information about inclusive practices for all students with your staff and faculty. The SENIA facebook page and website are valuable resources, as are the local SENIA chapters.
