How are programming and scripting skills relevant and valuable in the technical support career?

Knowing how a program works can help me identify issues. Troubleshooting more effectively and efficiently. 

Why is this important?

Being more knowledgeable is important. Keeping myself up to date can help you troubleshoot issues that arise.

What were the most important things that you learned about programming and scripting? 

Out of all my classes I think that learning the basics of programming and scripting. Getting a good understanding of just how they work and why they can be used is great knowledge to know.

What level of knowledge did you have of how to create this artifact before you began?

I was learning something very new to me. So, understanding it took a lot of personal time to research ways for me to understand it in a way that I can retain a good definition of what was it I was doing. 

How did you learn how to do it?

I had great instructors who helped build a good foundation for my learning so when it came to gaining a deeper understanding of command lines and batch files and coding.

What did you learn from the process?

That there’s a lot more to programming and scripting I would like to understand. 

What challenges or barriers did you have to overcome to complete it?

I feel like I had to learn basic batch file and coding and understanding what certain command lines did and when doing coding it had to be written a certain way otherwise the coding would not work (script.)

What level of knowledge do you have now? What strength/skill/knowledge does it demonstrate?

I feel like I’m still at a basic level of understanding because there is still so much to understand. I want to be able to utilize it more often.

What does this artifact mean to you? What does it "say" about you and your abilities?

Shows that I am able to explain command lines/batch files. What they will do and how it can help you in your IT field. I know more now about batch files and using PowerShell and seeing how scripts help with automation.

What is the importance in relation to your personal or professional growth?

I feel like I want to do this as a hobby. There is still so much to learn, and I want to be able to implement it for my professional growth. 

How will you use it (and/or this skill) as a career professional to benefit a business?

Being a consultant for a business would mean helping them benefit from having a smooth network and connectivity environment. Since we rely on technology so much connectivity is a big issue and being able to troubleshoot things efficiently is vital for a business.
