Ecological Footprint

Calculate your ecological footprint. There are numerous calculators online, each with their own benefits and flaws. Here are a few to choose from:

Document here what your results were when calculating your ecological footprint. Be sure to include the number of hectares, how many planets your current lifestyle would require if everyone consumed at the same level, and what your earth overshoot day currently is. Remember to reference which calculator you used.

In your reflection please outline your thoughts on this measurement tool and any flaws that you noticed. Do you find these results to be accurate or a fair representation?

What is a tangible action / or set of actions that you can take on to help reduce your ecological footprint? This activity requires you to:

  • set a realistic goal

  • provide a rationale for setting this goal

  • explain how you plan to achieve this goal

  • document and chart your progress over the remainder of the semester (through graphs, charts, reflections, photos etc.)

Be sure to include real evidence (numbers, trends, etc.) as well as written reflections (what you have noticed?, have you been able to stay on track? have this been challenging? what has worked? what has not worked? etc.)
