This policy explains what information the SelfQuest app ("SelfQuest", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. SelfQuest is developed by James Kirkham, 30 Chaffinch Close, Gatley, Stockport, M22 4WX, United Kingdom. Contact: selfquestapp@gmail.com.
Your email address, username/hunter name and password (stored only as a secure hash), or the account identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In if you use them.
Your hunter (appearance, class, level, stats, gear and inventory), quests, habits, goals, streaks, workouts and routines, battles, rewards and settings.
If you choose to connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), SelfQuest reads the following, with your permission: steps, distance, active and total calories burned, exercise sessions/workouts, heart rate, weight and height.
We read this data on your device to complete your fitness quests automatically and to show your stats in the app. We store only the resulting quest progress with your account (for example, today's step count towards a step quest). We do not upload your raw health records, and we never write to Apple Health or Health Connect.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties for their own purposes. Its use complies with the Health Connect Permissions policy and Apple's HealthKit guidelines, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect at any time in Apple Health / Health Connect settings, or in your device settings.
If you use the camera rep counter, the camera image is analysed on your device to count repetitions. Video and images are not recorded, stored or uploaded.
Guild names and descriptions, guild chat messages, friends and friend requests. Chat messages and names may be checked by an automated content-moderation service to keep the community safe.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive the purchase record (product, date, status), not your payment details. Purchase status is managed with RevenueCat.
How you use the app (for example screens viewed and features used), app version, device type, operating system, language, approximate country, and crash and performance information. We use a device or install identifier to connect this information to your account.
If you allow notifications, we use them for reminders and game updates.
To provide the app: your account, quests, progress, battles, guilds, purchases and support.
To keep the service safe and working: security, fraud prevention, moderation and fixing bugs.
To improve SelfQuest: understanding which features are used and how the app performs.
To contact you about your account (for example password resets).
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your health data for advertising.
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions:
Microsoft Azure (hosting, databases and content moderation)
RevenueCat (subscription and purchase management)
PostHog (product analytics and diagnostics)
Brevo (account emails such as password resets)
Apple and Google (sign-in, payments, notifications and app distribution)
We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete your account and its associated data from our active systems, except purchase records we must keep for accounting and tax purposes, which are anonymised. Backups are overwritten within 30 days.
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings > Delete account. You can also email selfquestapp@gmail.com from your account's email address; we will delete it within 30 days. Instructions: https://selfquestapi.azurewebsites.net/delete-account
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription - cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
Depending on where you live (including the UK and EU under the GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email selfquestapp@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
SelfQuest is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Our service providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States and the EU. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the new "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will let you know in the app.
