Welcome everyone to this TEFL course on Best T&L Techniques!
I am really delighted to share this educational path with all of you. Teaching TEFL has been one of the subjects I really value as relevant and significant.
I have been training teachers in TEFL methods and didactic strategies for almost twenty years now. Besides, I have never stopped teaching children and adults since I graduated, back in the '90s. Wow, a long, long time ago.
The thing that I love the most, when training teachers, is the energy and the powerful flow of experiences, knowledge, feelings, emotions, that we all transmit and share wholeheartedly.
In this section, you will find the fundamentals, the purposes, and the objectives of the course you are about to undertake. The fundamentals have to do with the epistemological and methodological stance towards teaching English as a foreign language.
I deeply hope that this course will open up amazing opportunities for developing new skills, capacities, and competencies as teachers to go down your educational path the best way.
FUNDAMENTALS
Teaching English as a Foreign Language, especially, dealing with didactics and curriculum, is certainly not an easy task.
The perspectives we might have as fundamentals are both wide and varied. Nonetheless, in this course, we consider that teaching a foreign language requires a holistic view of methods, approaches, and techniques. The Natural Approach to a language, developed by Krashen and Terrell, back in 1983, is considered the best way to "acquire" content by immersion and lowering our affective filters; setting goals a bit forward, and keeping track of our own weaknesses and lack of knowledge in some areas.
Alongside, this course will systematically unfold through Project-Based Learning or PBL. This methodology is gradually presented, in each of the lessons of a Didactic Sequence or unit, as tasks, so as to come up with a final presentation which includes all of them.
Lessons are framed bearing in mind Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, Perkins' Learning by Understanding, and Bloom's Taxonomy. Backpacking the assets, tips, and bits of these methodologies will surely lead us to safe grounds.
