Ever since their rediscovery, Selaiki and their unique physiology have garnered a great amount of interest all over the world. For good or for ill. The underlying characteristic of Selaiki physiology also is of much interest to
scientists. Study of these characteristics, however, has lead to some heated discussion. Notably their strength. There is agreement that Selaiki possessed superior physical strength compared to a human male. Indeed, it would not be possible for Selaiki to withstand their own weight if they weren’t. But there is
considerable disagreement on how big that gap was. Most conclude that the Selaiki had super strength but were sluggish due to their unorthodox anatomy. Others wildly theorize Selaiki had strength comparable to large beasts or even megafauna. Unfortunately, what records
we have discovered affirm both theories.
Written records are by far the most numerous evidence. There exists a record of Selaiki marriage pieced together from broken stone tablets and scrolls detailing how gentle newly wed Selaiki are with their husbands. In these instances when newlyweds first have intercourse, a Selaiki attendant is always present. It seems the apparent purpose was to prevent any injuries that may occur to the male. Other records suggest that such practices were commonplace in Selaiki cities. Suffocation seems to be the primary concern when interacting physically with human males though injuries to bones are an important if secondary concern. This suggests that Selaiki were strong but not wildly so.
On the other hand, Selaiki in combat paints a different story. Written records of battles are far and few, at least written by Selaiki hands. As a result, many records of Selaiki combat prowess come from their adversaries, nearly all of which are exaggerated. Many speak of single Selaiki warriors slaying dozens of men over the course of battle, outrunning mounted men, and delivering kicks that crumpled armor and launched men a dozen feet away. The only reliable source of information from the Selaiki perspective discovered to date comes from the Khorasan Empire. Which is also unfortunately exaggerated. It speaks of Selaiki using themselves as the equivalent of calvary and being extremely successful according to the records.
The most damning piece of evidence of all was the bones of Selaiki. Many such bones have been uncovered once graveyard sites have been identified. All discovered so far have been colored an off-red, perhaps the result of some ritual that painted the bones after death. At least that was the going theory until a deeper molecular analysis of Selaiki bones was undertaken. Iron deeply interwoven within their already incredibly dense bone structure gave it the off-red color. Physiology with such high metal content has rarely been seen before and never to this extent. It is impossible to determine how much stress and force these bones could have handled had their owner been alive. But at the very least any and all forms of super strength from the reasonable to the more outlandish is possible.
Between the conflicting records and the subsequent discovery of iron in Selaiki bone structure, it is impossible to gauge with certainty how strong Selaiki were. Even the most outlandish record of Selaiki strength is now plausible as are the less extreme examples. It is the opinion of this scientist that caution should be given because such a discovery is the first of its kind. Further inquiry into this field is warranted due to the uncertainty and the implications therein. However whatever their strength may be, it changes very little of what we have observed of these noble peoples. End.
