Seishinryu Budo is a non-profit, non-competitive group that promotes martial arts, spiritual, and philosophical aspects. While retaining traditional values, it adapts to modern applications. We welcome new and experienced, old and young, to experience this unique martial art. We recently moved to our current location, set in the scenic and historical Ashburton Hall. Over the years, we have been involved with community and charity events and are committed to this mission. Classes are currently held on Sundays from 1.30 to 3.30 pm.
Seishinryu Budo means "spiritual school" and was originally based at the Sir Philip Game Center and was one the time largest martial arts clubs, offering Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Kendo, iaido, Muy Thai, Wu Shu, and associated arts including Shiatsu. After fifty-five years circumstances forced us to leave. There were several dojos located in various clubs and colleges. As the council policies changed these clubs could no longer be maintained. However, with a few dedicated students Seishinryu has managed to survive.
