Beginning in 1980, electronic timing to the hundreths place was employed in the meet for the first time.  

Beginning in 1980, non-public schools were welcome to enter the championship once again after being excluded from 1973-79.  Scoring was extended to the top 12 places.  

Medalists Results, as well as a few extra relay results, have been preserved.  Full Results have not been saved.
