History

Origins

The Village Hall began life in 1858 as the school for Seaton Ross.  After the school closed the Village Hall charity was incorporated on the 9th November 1965.

Over the last few years the hall has been modernised with a new heating system and a new kitchen.  In 2021 the hall was fully redecorated and new blinds were purchased.  In 2023 a new emergency exit door was added along with new flooring in the smaller back room.

In 2024 further maintenance work included resolving the damp issue on the gable end.  The interior of the gable end was dry lined due to historic damp problems with the chimney (the chimney was used as the vent for the boiler which heated the primary school).

Then, in 2024 an interior door in the rear of the building was widened to allow wheelchair access, and in 2025 the exterior door was fitted with a new code lock.  In 2024 and 2025 new IT systems were implemented, including systems used by Trustees, and a new dedicated website and online hall booking system.  2025 also saw the 60th Anniversary of the hall being a charity.
