FROM WONDERS TO WISDOM:
A CURIOS SOUL'S JOURNEY
Hello! I am Kestner Mostoles, a Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) student from the College of Teacher Education at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP). As with my deep curiosity and passion for learning led me to Indonesia, joining the 10th Batch of the Southeast Asian Student-Teacher Exchange Program, where I embraced this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to both share my knowledge and expand my understanding of inclusive education.
Through the support of my university, sponsors, friends, relatives, and family, this journey has been an incredible gift—one that marks a meaningful start to 2025. Every lesson, challenge, and connection I encountered has shaped me, reinforcing my commitment to making a difference in the lives of learners with diverse needs. As I continue my path toward becoming an educator, I will carry these experiences forward, using them to inspire change, advocate for inclusivity, and create a more accessible learning environment for all.
The Beginning of Perjalanan SEA Teacher Saya
It started from being one of the buddies of our University's inbound students from Indonesia and Thailand. I became the buddy of Mr. Martinus and Ms. Nur fadilah of Universitas Borneo Tarakan, and one of the buddies of Ms. Malauof Universitas Sebelas Maret.
Throughout this part, we created an unforgettable connection with our inbound students - from being a buddy in terms of teaching internship, being their buddy in terms of being their accompany in going out for exploration and culture learning, and being a friend to them. Witnessing each student to depart going back to their countries brought us to tears. Nonetheless, the memories we created will be treasured forever.

Joining the SEA Student Exchange Program of SEAMEO has been a transformative journey that deepened my understanding of inclusive education, especially in teaching learners with visual impairments. This experience has taught me that true education goes beyond sight—it is about fostering a learning environment where every student, regardless of ability, feels valued, empowered, and supported. I have learned to embrace diverse learning needs, adapting my teaching methods to ensure that each learner can engage meaningfully. From exploring tactile learning strategies to strengthening my communication skills, every moment in the classroom has been a lesson in patience, creativity, and empathy. More than just an exchange program, this journey has reinforced my commitment to making education accessible and inclusive for all, ensuring that no learner is left behind.
Perjalanan SEA Teacher Saya : A carousel of Journey
Being a participant in the SEA Student Exchange Program of SEAMEO was more than just an academic journey—it was an exploration of culture, tradition, and connection, creating beautiful memories along the way. Immersing myself in Indonesian heritage, I had the privilege of experiencing batik painting, tasting diverse traditional foods, and witnessing firsthand the warmth and hospitality of the people. This journey was not just about learning differences but about discovering the many beautiful similarities we share. It reminded me that culture is not just something we observe; it is something we embrace, celebrate, and learn from. Through every interaction, every meal shared, and every tradition experienced, I created lasting memories that will always remind me of the beauty of inclusion, diversity, and the unspoken bonds that connect us beyond borders.
As my SEA Teacher journey comes to an end, I carry with me not just the lessons learned in the classroom but the invaluable experiences that have shaped my understanding of education, culture, and human connection. This journey was more than an exchange—it was a transformative experience that deepened my appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and the power of shared learning. From embracing traditions to forming meaningful friendships, every moment reinforced the beauty of different perspectives coming together. Though this chapter is closing, the lessons, memories, and relationships will continue to inspire me as I move forward, committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all. Kita Bersahil dan Terima kasih, Indonesia—until our paths cross again!
