I started with classroom management, which I accomplished by establishing and becoming a role model for my students by having a well-organized teacher's table and chair. I included the classroom regulations in my presentation and let them read and act as I facilitated while arranging their tables and chairs, as well as their posture. This is to avoid falling asleep during my class.
"What symbol is this?" I showed them images of symbols and let them make their guesses. I added symbols for both fundamental operations and derivatives. likewise, I taught them how to read those symbols in English and allowed them to teach me how to say them in Indonesian. I enjoyed interacting with my students, and I believe they did as well.
As the class discussion has started, I allowed my students to think critically by providing examples first, before presenting the rules. Fortunately, they all observed what I wanted them to notice. They merely needed time to observe, which I gave them for a while.
Instead of just writing, solving, and talking in front, I let the students to collaborate with one another, and engage and conduct board work, and reminded them that every correct answer has a corresponding reward, so everyone became more involved and was able to answer and discuss on the board.
Before ending the presentation, I ask if there are any further questions or clarifications on the subject matter, and whether they are now ready to begin their assessment activity. I also encouraged them by displaying the motivational quote which says, "The best way to LEARN math is to DO math." in Indonesian.
The exams were administered online. The exams can only be taken using the SMANCA BROW program. This is an E-learning tool that is only accessible by the school and each student has his or her private account. This program prevents students from cheating. The teachers will just facilitate the duration of the exams. As students complete their exam, the results will be automatically submitted to the section's database for grading.
"This assessment method is being promoted by the school in order to boost the technological advancement of the students and the school as a whole. This is a good strategy that secondary schools in the Philippines could potentially embrace."
