My resource teacher always begins with classroom management. She always facilitates her students in arranging their tables and chairs, as well as their posture, before anything else. This has a significant influence on students' learning as preparation for the actual lesson.
Throughout the class, the teacher is relying in solving and showing solutions on the whiteboard.
The teacher did not use visual aids or PowerPoint presentations to brighten up the teaching-learning process. They rely completely on their books.
As time passed, some napped and others did things irrelevant to the topic as a result of the teacher-centeredness of the class.
The teacher concluded the class by asking the students to provide a brief summary of the topics that were covered. Before doing an assessment, the teacher and her students will summarize the entire lesson as an overview. She also goes through everyone's notebooks to see whether they have taken any notes. Fortunately, everyone takes part during the discussion, and naps are unavoidable caused by fatigue or other unfavorable causes. However, I can only recommend that technology be used in the classroom to help learners achieve better learning.
The school implements an Independent Curriculum in accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology which provides flexibility in implementing the curriculum. The class solely depends on the 3 textbooks provided by the school.
Unfortunately, as I have observed, they only use standardized exams or most of them, and not Authentic Assessments.
"I have observed that when learners are given the opportunity to participate and collaborate with peers, they flourish and are eager to learn. Moreover, the teacher's lesson is well-organized and structured, beginning with the simplest or most fundamental sections and progressing to the most advanced part of the lesson. This is an outstanding comfort for students who are experiencing academic stress as a consequence of the subject's difficulties."
