When I was observing in my co-operating teacher’s class, I realized that she was implementing student-centered learning, where the learning process follows these steps. First, she explains about the material she will teach. Secondly, she gives examples to students. And after that, she gives question to students and students will answer the question. I observed my teacher employing teaching techniques, including the demonstration method, the question-and-answer approach as part of her teaching methodology.
My co-operating teacher utilized learning materials from the Junior High School textbook as well as adapted and modified materials sourced from the internet. For example, when teaching the topic of "Probability," she referred to various online resources, which she then customized to create her own PowerPoint presentation. By integrating technology into her teaching, she enhances students' understanding and engagement, making the learning process more interactive and effective. Additionally, she ensures that the materials she develops are aligned with the curriculum and tailored to suit the students' needs.
The sources of learning and technology used by teacher include teacher’s textbooks, the school library, additional knowledge books for teachers, powerpoint, and the internet.
USANT JHS evaluates students through various assessment methods, including:
Examinations: The school primarily uses the mean of exam scores as the basis for assessment. Students take topic-based exams after completing each lesson, which are conducted monthly. A final exam is administered at the end of the term to assess overall understanding.
Homework and Assignments: These reinforce classroom learning and help develop students' independent study habits.
Class Participation: Active engagement in class discussions, group activities, and problem-solving exercises contributes to the overall evaluation.
Projects and Performance Tasks: These assessments measure students' ability to apply concepts in real-life situations through practical applications such as research projects, presentations, and experiments.
Quizzes and Seatwork: Regular quizzes and in-class exercises ensure continuous monitoring of student progress.
