Based on my observations, my cooperating teacher plans lessons, prepares assignments, and organizes media before starting to teach in class. In addition, teachers collect additional learning resources from books and the internet to enhance the delivery of the material. If teachers plan to display media, such as images in PowerPoint, they also prepare laptops and LCD projectors. The teaching approach used is a student-centered method. In this method, teachers usually ask students questions, connecting the subject to everyday life. This approach aims to encourage students' active participation by asking questions linked to their experiences. Teachers often use examples that are closely related to the student's environment. In addition, the student-centered approach is evident in the use of the discussion method. After an explanation from the teacher, students are divided into groups to discuss the material covered during the lesson. This dynamic approach promotes collaborative learning and encourages students to understand the material more deeply.
Our teaching schedule includes:
MAPEH Grade 3-Masunurin at 8.00-8.40 AM
MAPEH Grade 3-Mabait at 10:00-10:40 AM
EPP Grade 4-Magalang at 1.00-1.45 PM
EPP Grade 4-Matiyaga at 2.30-3.15 PM
According to my observations, my cooperating teacher utilizes a variety of learning materials, such as textbooks, PowerPoint presentations, and additional references from various sources, including other books and videos downloaded from YouTube. This diverse approach is designed to enrich the lesson content provided to students. In applying innovative teaching strategies, my cooperating teacher used game-based quizzes and interactive presentations as tools to motivate students. This approach aims to keep students engaged and prevent them from feeling bored during the learning process.
The learning steps carried out by the teacher are first the teacher gives greetings to students and checks the attendance of students, after that the teacher reviews the previous learning, then the teacher motivates students regarding the material to be presented. The next step is the teacher begins to explain the material by asking students questions related to the material then giving exercises to students, after that the teacher gives quizzes or assignments that are done directly. The teacher and students review today's material, the teacher gives closing words, and finally the teacher gives an evaluation to students and conveys the assignments to be done.
For evaluation, teachers arrange formative and summative assessments. During the learning process, the teacher monitors students' participation in group discussions as well as their ability to use adverbs appropriately in context. At the end of the lesson, the teacher gives a short quiz to gauge students' understanding of the material that has been taught. Afterwards, the teacher provides feedback on their homework assignments, highlighting progress made and aspects that need improvement. This approach is to assess the effectiveness of learning as well as identify students who need additional help.
