My demo- teaching in bola voli (volleyball).
A mix of nerves and excitement coursed through me as I prepared to engage with my students. This experience is not just about imparting knowledge; it represents a valuable opportunity for my personal growth and professional development in a multicultural educational environment.
As I approached my class, Kelas XI.5 (Grade 11 – 5), I focused on creating an engaging atmosphere. The preliminary activities were crucial in setting the tone for the lesson including:
Kumpol (Gathering): I gathered the students in the learning area to establish a sense of community.
Line Formation: Organizing them into a line helped maintain order and focus.
Attendance Check: This routine ensured that every student was accounted for and ready to participate.
Warm-Up Activities: A dynamic warm-up was essential to prepare their bodies for physical activity.
To kick off the lesson, I utilized a motivational activity called ‘4 Pics 1 Word’. This interactive approach not only captured their attention but also activated prior knowledge related to volleyball.
Demonstration first before letting my students do the basic skills.

DEMONSTRATION OF BASIC SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL
Learning volleyball is not merely about mastering physical skills; it serves as a metaphor for life itself. The basic skills of volleyball—passing, setting, serving, and blocking, can be seen as valuable lessons: PASS on knowledge to others, SET an example for youth, SERVE as inspiration, and BLOCK any obstacles that hinder personal dreams.
When it comes to time management I always make sure to finish my lesson in accordance to my lesson plan and the allotted time. That's why, as much as possible, I wake up early, prepare my material for my lesson, and ready myself before entering the school.
Introduced dynamic stretching.

I am very happy that my students are very respectful and very participative. My classroom management had been easy because of the cooperation of my students. In my part, I employed gathering of students, line formation, checking of attendance and warm-up. As such, I always make sure that there is a maximum student engagement. As part of my classroom management, I applied positive reinforcement- or giving rewards or praises to the students for being good during the entire educational process.
It is undeniable that the greatest problem I have encountered is the language barrier. However, I would like to thank my buddies, Thia and Rika for their endless support and sacrifice during my stay at SMAN Alalak, for patiently translating - for filling in the gap of misunderstanding due to differences. Nonetheless, I have learned to be adaptive and open. That's why I am very thankful for this SEA-Teacher Program.
