The San Diego Center for Economic Education (SDCEE) at Cuyamaca
College is a leading provider of resources for economic and
financial literacy education. When economics became a high school
graduation requirement in California, SDCEE stepped up to support
educators with resources for teaching these essential subjects. Over
time, we have expanded our offerings to include financial literacy
resources and support for a broader range of students, including
those in K-12 schools, college students, and adult populations.
SDCEE provides comprehensive materials specifically designed for
high school economics courses, ensuring that educators have the
resources needed to meet graduation requirements and deliver
high-quality instruction. Additionally, SDCEE offers resources for
integrating economic and financial literacy topics into other
subjects, such as history, mathematics, business, and government,
helping teachers embed these important concepts across various
disciplines. To further support educators, SDCEE also conducts
financial literacy sessions aimed at improving their own financial
literacy, empowering them to better teach these skills to their
students.
Beyond supporting educators, SDCEE delivers direct financial
literacy instruction to school-age and college students, including
current and former foster youth, as well as to young people and
their caregivers. Through tailored programs and workshops, SDCEE
ensures these groups gain essential financial skills for their
personal and professional development.
By bridging these two areas—dedicated K-12 course materials
and interdisciplinary resources—SDCEE plays a vital role in
preparing individuals to thrive in both local and global economies.
