2025 Press Release Grassroots Panel
Peace Dale, RI — September 2025 — The South County Social Justice Coalition announces its next Quarterly Meeting, to be held Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County, 27 North Road, Peace Dale, RI.
This public gathering will feature a panel discussion on “Grassroots Organizing for Social Justice,” highlighting the power of local movements to create meaningful change. Community members are invited to attend, learn, and engage in dialogue about the ways grassroots efforts are shaping justice initiatives across Rhode Island.
Johnette Rodriguez will moderate the panel discussion of these respected leaders from South County:
Etta Zasloff, South County Rising: Resisting Autocracy. Reforming Democracy.
Leslie Dunn, Westerly Anti Racism Coalition
Jocelyn Foye, The Womxn Project
Christine Martone, League of Women Voters
“Grassroots organizing is at the heart of every social justice movement,” said Johnnette Rodriguez. “This program offers an opportunity to hear directly from those who are leading change in our own communities.”
The South County Social Justice Coalition’s Quarterly Meetings are designed to connect in person with neighbors, activists, and organizations working for equity, inclusion, and democracy in Southern Rhode Island.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
