Meet Rhode Island’s Defender-in-Chief
Attorney General Peter Neronha Comes to South County
South Kingstown. Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha—one of the most vocal and active legal voices in the fight against harmful federal policies—is coming to South Kingstown High School on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m.
Hosted by the South County Social Justice Coalition, this event offers a chance to hear directly from the state’s top legal authority about the battles he’s waging to protect civil rights, public safety, and government accountability.
In the past two months, Neronha has taken legal action against executive orders coming out of Washington that threaten birthright citizenship, LGBTQ+ rights in the military and federal funding freezes, including Medicaid.
Throughout his seven years as the US District Attorney for Rhode Island and his service as Attorney General since 2018, Neronha has pushed for stronger gun control laws; challenged President Trump’s border policies; investigated sexual abuse in the Catholic Diocese of Providence; and fought political and corporate corruption—bringing $230 million back to Rhode Island in a landmark case against Google.
This Meet-Up will be moderated by Jonathan Pitts-Wiley, artistic director of Mixed Magic Theater, and it will offer the opportunity for audience members to ask questions and engage directly with the Attorney General.
RI AG Peter Neronha will attend this South County Social Justice Coalition meeting on April 6, 3 p.m., in the South Kingstown High School Auditorium, entrance at the back, with parking available at the front, side, and rear of the building.
The South County Social Justice Coalition is largely a communication network that provides a weekly newsletter of local social justice events and stories. Quarterly informational meetings are open to the public. The coalition is open to all faith groups, individuals, and helping organizations who address issues of equity, diversity, cultural responsiveness, access and support at any level in South County.
