Sir John Thompson did not pass away in Canada but he passed away in Britain. He died in Windsor Castle on December 12 in Scotland. Sir John Thompson visited London to attend the privy council meeting with the Queen. Sir John called the doctor to come to see him since he felt very unwell. He almost fell into the Dr’s arm and soon after, he passed away. It is believed that Sir John Thompson passed away due to heart disease. Sir John Tompson was visiting Britain at the time and just met Queen Victoria. This is The Queen giving grievance to Sir John Thompson’s death and expressing her regret to Sir John Thompson’s widow, the Queen also sent a telegram to Canada, expressing her condolences. Later on, Sir John Thompson’s daughter, along with Senator Sanford arrived in London.
The opposition leader, later on Prime Minister Wilfried Laurier also expressed his condolences, he also canceled the celebration at the Mercier Club. On the next page, Mr George Johnson described Sir John Tompson is a warm-hearted person, he participated in the politics since 1874 in Robb election. According Johson, Sir John Thompson also supported the local industries and had huge sympathy for the people in poverty. Sir John Thompson’s remains will be sent back to Ottawa for a state funeral, while the member of the cabinet will be summoned back to the office.
