Teen Fashion Show

Scotland AME Zion Church, July 1968

The Scotland community worked toward goals beyond housing during this time. In addition to preschool sessions for toddlers and tutoring for school-age students, SOS arranged programs for teens beyond academics, including these activities for girls that involved aerobics, dance, and comportment. Essentially it was "finishing school," in line with trends of the time, to teach young women proper posture, etiquette, professional dress, and manners. Led in part by Alice Miller, the girls show off what they've learned at this program given at the Scotland AME Zion Church in the summer of 1968.
