The Puget Sound Science Leadership Collaborative gathers science education leaders from the 35 schools districts in the Puget Sound ESD region to learn and work together. Our primary purpose is to help teachers improve their practices and school systems remove their systemic barriers to benefit every student in our care.
We know that a focus on the learning needs of students who have been historically marginalized from success in science/STEM learning and from STEM careers is critical to meeting our purpose.
"Anytime an operating system - like a school or a curriculum - consistently fails a specific subset of people, there is not something wrong with the people (in this case, children). There is something wrong with the system - the institution or the curriculum."
~ Cornelius Minor
We Got This: Equity, Access & the Quest to Be Who Our Students Need Us to BeAs such, our intention is to become the racial equity leaders our students need us to be.
“The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And that’s the only way forward.”
