This website is designed to help students learn science and was developed in accordance with the Grade Seven Science Curriculum of Atlantic Canada and the Science and Technology 7 textbook. There are eight lessons to help students understand the various subtopics of heat. Within each lesson, there is a combination of photos, text, videos, quizzes, assignments and activities. This website is intended to mimic what would be taught in a classroom. The heat unit can sometimes be difficult for students to understand due to its abstract concepts that deal with particle theory, the changes of state of matter and the transfer of heat from one object to another. It is important that students have a good foundation of these concepts as the information will lend itself to other units in grade seven such as mixtures and solutions.
Online learning provides the opportunity for students to learn anywhere and at their own pace. It is important that each student learns to their full potential, which means allowing them to learn through whatever medium works best for them. This website can be used as a stand-alone resource or in conjunction with in-school learning.
