What is Social Justice Education?

“Social justice pedagogy is an educational philosophy designed to promote socio-economic equality in the learning environment. Social justice pedagogy commits to all students, regardless of race, culture, ability, language and gender, having access to learning opportunities in science that foster personal and social transformation"

Bringing in social justice education into our classrooms, students will:

• Explore, learn and become aware of the issues that exist in our current society that impacts the quality of life for people around the globe and how people can work together to solve these problems.

• Engage in brave conservation and learn about:

  • • Inequalities within the communities

    • Stereotypes / Marginalization/ Microaggression/ Oppression seen within the communities

• Become aware and further explore about the political, social, economic and cultural injustices that exist within our society today.

• Transform learners into agents of change through the development of three important aspects:

• Critical Consciousness

• Critical Literacy

• Critical Agency
