Does my dancer need to wear makeup for Dress Rehearsal and the Recital?
Absolutely! Stage makeup helps your dancer shine under the bright lights and in front of a big audience. Without it, their facial features can get washed out and be hard to see from far away.
All dancers should wear makeup for both our dress rehearsal and the recital so they look and feel their best for the big day! If anything, go heavier for the recital and lighter on picture day so they still look like themselves.
For our younger dancers, we recommend keeping it simple with a little blush, sparkly glitter gel, and a tinted lip stain (not lipstick—it can smudge easily).
Older dancers should definitely wear blush, lip stain, eye shadow, mascara, and glitter if they'd like—body glitter adds a fun extra touch!
Is makeup application a bit of a struggle at home? That’s okay! Practice is key. But please don’t force it if there are tears involved—we understand. We'd much rather have a happy dancer! Our goal is simply to help your dancer’s bright smile be seen from every seat in the audience!
Makeup isn’t required for boys, but we do recommend blush and tinted lip balm to help their faces stand out under the lights—everyone on stage, no matter their role, usually wears a little stage makeup so the audience can see them clearly!

How do I style my dancer’s hair for Dress Rehearsal and the Recital?
For uniformity, we assign each class/dance a specific hairstyle. This hairstyle is listed in the Recital Lookbook and will be posted in the dressing rooms! Please make sure you are aware of your dancer‘s assigned hairstyle! If your dancer has a hair change during the show, please include any items needed to make that change in their provided garment bag.
Hair should be as neat and clean as possible. This is a special day, so you should make a special effort to help your dancer look their best!
Use gel/ clips/hairspray to smooth fly-aways so that all dancers have a classy and uniform look on stage! Gel is key and will help you create the perfect, smooth hairstyle. If you have a hairpiece, please also make sure it is very secure so that it does not fall off during the performance!
Photo Week Dress Rehearsal is just as important – so please do hair and makeup for this day just as you would for show day! If hair is too short for the hairstyle listed in the packet, try to get as close to the hairstyle as possible, pulling hair up and away from face.
