Social Cognitive Career Theory
This is a theoretical framework that explains how individuals make career choices, develop their career paths, and helps us understand the factors that influence career decision-making.
Three main components:
Self-efficacy is the belief that you can succeed at a task or achieve a goal, such as becoming a nurse. Counselors are key to encourage nursing and help students believe they can succeed in the career. This resource website aims to promote this.
Outcome expectations, this site will aim to portray the realistic and positive views of nursing careers and opportunities such as Nurse Camps to get hands on experience in the field. The site showcases diverse nursing roles and their positive impacts (i.e. the importance of a diverse nursing workforce and the numerous nurse specialties)
Creating Goals, the resource site will provide tools and information for counselors to be able to help students set clear educational pathways to nursing school. This website includes ways to make goals realistic an attainable through the information provided about local nursing schools, scholarships, and grants.
