Solo Exhibition at The Lola South Congress
“The Golden Age of November” is the debut of my photography-turned-textiles for the 20th Annual Austin Studio Tour, sublimation printed on Japanese satin to bring that beautiful Texas breeze back into these glorious nature-based scenes.
In our modern society, we’ve reached a point of information overload – we’re literally missing the forest for the trees. By interrupting the precision of a digital camera, I cut through the noise to reveal the mood and emotion of a scene as I experience it firsthand. With these ‘moodscapes’ I imagine how seeing the world with less detail might empower us to have a more grounded, heart-centered experience.
Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, Japanese aesthetics, and my own meanderings and meditations — this body of work taps into the healing power of the ephemeral. Fleeting beauties might just pass us by, but reward us greatly when we make the choice to be in the present, in communion with the natural world. Here’s to sharing the moment. xx
