You can set an appointment with a research advisor and they will best match you with a research lab! Additionally, you can apply for the many different research programs this office offers. Keep in mind that many of these programs have different eligiblity requirments.
The I-Engage Mentoring Program brings together graduate students and postdocs with undergraduate students for a summer-long research experience.
Sometimes just emailing the professor is enough! Most professors are very friendly and want students to join their lab! Send an email and you may get your opportunity that way. If they don't respond or say no, try a different professor until you find one that accepts you. It might be less scary emailing if you met the professor during a networking event or if you had their class. Joining a student organization is a great way to meet professors.
Every week each College of Science department hosts a professor from outside UTA to give a talk about their research. Sometimes they invite students for lunch. This is one of the best way to start networking. Dates and times vary by department. See each department website for info. Usually you will get an email every Monday from the College of Science that lists each one for the week.
