This is a free event at the River Legacy Nature Center, where we will be lead on a walk with a naturalist to learn about birds! We will participate in the official national Great Backyard Bird Count by counting as many species as we can and reporting our findings at the end. Join CSEC for an interactive security workshop where we'll explore CVE-2025-4802, a critical vulnerability in the GNU C Library that affects millions of systems.
This will introduce you to the world of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) and demonstrate how attackers can exploit trusted system components.
We'll walk through the fundamentals of this LD_LIBRARY_PATH vulnerability, which allows malicious shared libraries to be loaded into privileged setuid binaries. You'll see live demonstrations of the exploit in action, examine the vulnerable source code, and understand how an attacker would achieve a successful privilege escalation exploit to a root shell.
This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn binary exploitation and systems level programming in Cybersecurity!
