Engaging current and potential supporters is a central aim of any movement seeking a change in systemic systems of oppression. Tools in this category can help grassroots movements and movement organizations with the concrete tasks of engaging in sociopolitical action whether on the ground, or through media and political channels. The tools focus on several different areas of successful engagement including how to mobilize individuals to become active in movement work; the significance of language and how to use it effectively; ways of engaging with or within the existing political system; and leveraging media to craft and control a movement’s narrative. Tools in this category also address the significance of flexibility for effective movement work and provide examples of what sociopolitical action looks like when it takes on transnational dimensions.
