Guided by Community, Inspired by Students
"Together we can work to maintain the township's tradition of strong schools, and a genuine commitment to the success of every student."
Steve Young is a lifelong resident of Haverford Township and a proud graduate of the School District of Haverford Township. His educational journey began at Lynnewood Elementary School, continued through Haverford Junior High, and culminated with his graduation from Haverford High School in the Class of 1983. Steve’s deep roots in the community extend to his family—his three children were also educated in the public schools and are proud graduates of Haverford High School.
In addition to living in the township for 60 years, Steve has devoted decades to volunteering and leadership within the district and community. He is a founding member of the Haverford Youth Football organization, where he coached and served on the board for 10 years. He also served as both a board member and coach with Haverford Blaze Lacrosse for 15 years. For more than 25 years, Steve has volunteered as a football and lacrosse coach at Haverford High School, helping to mentor and guide hundreds of student-athletes.
Steve is an original board member of the Haverford High School Sports Hall of Fame and continues to serve on that board after 30 years. He is a past board member of the Hilltop Swim Club and currently serves on the Haverford Township Parks and Recreation Board, where he continues to advocate for youth programs and community engagement.
Professionally, Steve is a self-employed manufacturer’s representative. Through years of running his own business, he has developed the practical experience needed to manage budgets, build relationships, and solve problems efficiently. He brings this same skill set—along with his deep community ties and lifelong commitment to Haverford schools—to his candidacy for the School Board.
Steve believes that every decision made by the Board should put students first, support teachers, and strengthen the partnership between schools, families, and the community. His lifelong dedication to Haverford Township reflects his guiding principle: to serve with integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the success of every student.
