Camden Council have introduced charges on motorcycle parking as of February 2026
Originally the Council planned £6 per hour charges, and banning all-day parking for motorcycles, but thankfully due to pressure from us and our supporters they backed down from this.
Solo motorcycle bays for visitors are now charged £1.30 per day for the first year, rising to £2.60 next year. As in Westminster motorcycle parking sessions are valid in all bays accross the borough - riders can pay once and move to different bays during the day.
Despite this reduction, we believe the charges are punitive and unjustified in many ways;
no block booking, unlike Westminster and Islington, so charges for commuters could reach £600/year
residents' permits of £146/year the same price as a car permit, and limited to one zone only
only 1 permit allowed per person so those with both a car and a PTW will be forced to sell one
motorcycle business permits at £419/year and doctors permits at £326
FoI reveals that 1 in 7 riders - those living in 'car-free developments' - face charges up to £950/year - more than any car
charges even for electric motorcycles - £75/year for residents, £300 for commuters, £500 for residents of 'car-free' developments
We are continuing to pressure the Council for further changes, and make sure every rider in Camden makes their voice heard at the elections in May.
