Welcome to the S12 Green Belt Action Group website.
Our website provides updates on the ongoing efforts of the S12 Green Belt Action Group, a local volunteer-led initiative dedicated to opposing the proposed development of 652 homes on S12 Green Belt (304 by Sheffield City Council and 348 by NEDDC). This land, located between White Lane and Carter Hall Lane next to Charnock Hall Primary Academy (please see map to the left), is a vital green space for precious wildlife that we aim to protect.
The group’s mission is to inform the community, raise awareness, and ensure the preservation of our cherished green areas.
In Autumn 2025, the group submitted a community objection to the planning inspector and actively participated in hearings opposing the development. After further information was released, we submitted a second community objection in December 2025. Both objections are available on the “Statements of Objection” page for your review. These documents outline why the land is unsuitable for development and highlight concerns regarding the inadequate consultation process.
To further our efforts, we've launched a petition on Change.org, which can be found on the “Petition” page of our website. We’ve also knocked on hundreds of doors with a paper petition and distributed almost 5000 flyers to reach neighbours who may not be online. Additionally, we've set up a GoFundMe campaign to help us print materials, spread awareness, and, if necessary, access legal advice.
Throughout the process we have worked with MP Clive Betts and collaborated with other local Green Belt groups, including S35 and S13, and will continue to do so. We have now formed a cross Sheffield Alliance where we are all working together against Green Belt development in Sheffield please have a look and sign the Cross Sheffield Petition here we're hoping to get 10,000 signatures on this before 5th May, so please sign and share.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your support in preserving our green spaces!
