"Student and parents can work with their CVA teacher to modify course pacing and course learning goals to meet individual student needs, from honors track to remediation. Students can also make up missed credits, or achieve curricular stability when participating in demanding sports or fine and performing arts programs or when faced with health or discipline issues at school or in the home. This is also an ideal program for educational consistency if your family expects to move within the state during the school year" (Columbia Virtual Academy, 2020)

The CVA student body is very active in their local community. Dave Vail stated that, "In normal years, students are involved in many outside of school activities socialization is not an issue. There are not kids who sit behind a computer 24/7. Some students go back and play sports at their local school. Some take classes at their local school (band, choir)."
