Water Quality Studies

Studies - Water Quality

    • Raw water quality data dating back to the early-to-mid 1980's for Lake Keowee. (Frank Eskridge, Greenville Water System)

    • Evaluating geochemical properties of various rock-water interactions and the impacts on ground and surface water quality at a former mine site in Lincolton, GA. Dr. Gwendelyn Geidel, Research Professor, University of South Carolina, Department of Earth and Ocean Science.

    • The Georgia Rivers LMER (GARLMER) is one of four previous projects funded by the National Science Foundation to examine the interactions between coastal wetlands and rivers and their adjacent oceanic ecosystems. Georgia Rivers - Data for Savannah River Watershed (use of data requires permission, see website)

  • Biogeochemical Shifts in Nutrient Mineralization Patterns USGS 2013 (Krauss, Noe, Hupp) published in Biogeochemistry. Studied Savannah and Waccamaw Rivers. Impacts from salt water intrusion.

  • SC DHEC Watershed Water Quality Assessment Documents (WWQA). (Carol Roberts, Watershed Manager: Saluda and Savannah Basins, DHEC). Archived earlier assessments are here.

  • Miscellaneous Water Quality Research (dissolved oxygen, water temperature, river channel profiles, discharge, light profiles, meteorological data, seston, chlorophyll and phaeopigment, macro invertebrates, fecal coli form, pH, conductivity, and turbidity). Southeastern Natural Science Academy, Dr. Oscar Flite.

    • Water Quality Research (water temperature, pH, specific conductance, vertical profiles). USACE has files.

    • Technical assistance on the review and model application of three dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model for the Savannah River/Harbor (EPA’s Watershed and Water Quality Modeling Technical Support Center)

    • Produces water quality monitoring data for the Savannah in conjunction with the National Park Service Water Resources Division, GA EPD, SC DHEC, GA DNR, EPA National Aquatic Resources Survey (EPA)

    • “Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for Dissolved Oxygen in Savannah Harbor/Savannah River Basin.”(EPA)

    • “Multivariate Analyses (Canonical Correlation and Partial Least Square (PLS)) to Model and Assess the Association of Landscape Metrics to Surface Water Chemical and Biological Properties Using Savannah River Basin Data”. Maliha S. Nash, Deborah J. Chaloud.

    • “Classifications and Water Quality Standards Assigned to the Waters of the Little Tennessee River Basin and the Savannah River Drainage Area”. ( North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.)
