Beginning ART
🎨 Possible Elective for the 2025-2026 School Year
This introductory art class allows students to explore various mediums, techniques, and styles while building fundamental artistic skills.
🖌 Interested in Art? Select "Yes" on the elective sheet.
You will still need to choose three other electives.
If Art is available, it will be your #1 choice.

Associated Student Body (ASB) Leadership
🎉 ASB is responsible for hosting school events, assemblies, and dances.
🏫 The purpose of this class is to increase school spirit and foster unity among all students on campus.
🤝 ASB participates in community service both in and out of school and plays a role in decision-making for all class activities.
🚍 Students will take part in a Team-Building Field Trip.
📌 Eligibility Requirements
📖 Intermediate Students (Grades 7-8):
📊 Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
📝 Two teacher recommendations required.
✏️ Incoming 6th Graders:
🏆 Must have all 3s and 4s in 5th grade.
👩🏫 Teacher recommendation required.

(Advancement Via Individual Determination)
📚 AVID is a college readiness program that equips students with the skills, support, and mindset needed to succeed in rigorous coursework and achieve their post-secondary goals.
📝 Focuses on key academic skills:
Writing, speaking, and reading strategies
Test-taking techniques
Goal-setting and self-awareness
🌟 Provides a supportive and challenging
environment to help students succeed.
Concert Band
(All Levels,6-8th grade)
🎵 Learn to read music, play an instrument, and have fun!
🎺 Instrument options:
Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion (Drums).
📚 Two levels:
🥁 Intermediate Band
✅ Open to all students.
🎭 3 required performances.
🎶 Advanced Band
🎤 Enrollment is based on audition - requirements = strong rhythm, music reading, and good behavior.
🎼 4 required performances plus more (field trip opportunities).
Orchestra
(All Levels,6-8th grade)
🎻 Band, but chill.
🎼 Learn the same music skills with the string family:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass

Beginning Drama
(6-8th grade)
🎭 Intro - Basic concepts of theatre arts
✨ Build confidence and trust
🎨 Stimulate imagination & movement
🎤 Lose inhibitions and gain trust in themselves and others
🎬 Use drama and theatre vocabulary
👥 Individuals and group performances
🎶 Participate in the ensemble of Santiago's spring musical production

Advanced Drama
(7-8th grade)
🎭 Only for students who have taken Santiago’s Beginning Drama or who have the instructor’s permission (ie, had a lead in our Disney Musical)

🎬 Build upon previously learned skills
🎭 Learn to portray more compelling characters and complex scenes
✨ Build an ensemble, stimulate imagination, movement, and role-play
🎭 Emphasis on believability and stage presence
📖 Address plot, setting, and character in monologues
🎭 Use drama and theatre vocabulary
👥 Individual and group performances
🌟 Opportunity to audition for a lead or featured role in both Santiago's fall comedy play and spring musical production
Production and Design
(6-8th grade)
🎭 Focus on the design and safe application of basic tools and procedures to create elements of technical theatre, including:
✂️ Costumes, 💡 Lighting , 🎨 Makeup, 🎭 Props, 📢 Publicity, 🏗️ Scenery, 🔊 Sound
🛠️ Develop assessment and problem-solving skills
📚 Connect selected literature to various cultures, history, and other content areas
🎟️ Public performances may serve as a culmination of specific instructional goals
⏳ Students may be required to attend or participate in technical work, rehearsals, and/or performances beyond the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom

(6-8th grade) - 6th Graders will have priority

Robotics
Design and Modeling & Automation and Robotics (7-8th grade)
🤖 This Project Lead The Way (PLTW) course provides students with a strong foundation in robotics and engineering.
📏 Semester 1: Design and Modeling
🔧 Develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through hands-on projects.
🎨 Learn the engineering design process to create and test 3D models.
⚙️ Semester 2: Automation and Robotics
🔩 Explore mechanical systems, automation, and programming.
🤖 Build and program robots to solve real-world challenges.
