James Shaughnessy Memorial Research Fund

James Shaughnessy lost his courageous battle with cancer in July 2019.  During his long career in nuclear medicine and ultrasound, Jim was always interested in and at the edge of medical imaging technology.  Although he never had any formal training in scientific research, he was fascinated with advances in biomedical research with a particular interest in imaging and other new technologies.  It is for these reasons that the James Shaughnessy Memorial Research Fund (JSMRF) was established in his memory to support the careers of young aspiring scientists in their goals to make cancer and infectious diseases a thing of the past.  These funds will be used to support PhD students and Postdoctoral Fellows in the Medical Microbiology and Immunology Department in advancing biomedical science through direct support of their research and the sharing of their work with the scientific community at national and international meetings. If you would like to make a donation in Jim's memory please follow the link below.
