As a Field Training Officer (FTO), you are more than just a supervisor — you are a leader, a teacher, and a mentor. Your responsibility is to guide cadets through their transition from classroom to patrol, ensuring they are well-prepared to represent the San Andreas State Police.
FTOs are expected to maintain high standards and operate with professionalism at all times. Daily responsibilities include:
Conducting structured patrols with your cadet
Demonstrating proper procedures and techniques
Allowing cadets to lead scenarios once ready
Providing clear, constructive feedback throughout the shift
Completing the Daily Observation Report (DOR) at the end of each session
Consistency is key. Be fair, be firm, and be honest.
Accurate documentation is essential for tracking cadet progress and accountability.
FTOs are required to:
Submit a completed DOR after every shift
Log any major incidents, rule violations, or disciplinary actions
Track phase progression and note strengths/weaknesses
Use the provided evaluation templates (found in Section 10)
All documentation should be submitted to the appropriate supervisor or training lead at the end of your shift.
