After working at a pet store throughout high school and my first year of university, I realized the dire need for innovation in the pet care industry. New and existing pet owners are often tasked with the challenge of providing their furry friends with the most optimal health choices possible - I mean who doesn't want their pup living forever!
The pet industry can be difficult to navigate. With sponsorship bias dominating the veterinary scene to choice overload at most pet stores, it's hard to feel confident in the care you are providing for your animal.
As an entrepreneur (and crazy dog lover), I designed PetCurex, an app that provides users with tailored product and care recommendations. PetCurex aims to address the issue of generic and one-size-fits-all pet care products in the market. The platform leverages advanced algorithms to analyze individual pet health profiles, providing personalized product recommendations tailored to each pet's specific health needs. By doing so, PetCurex seeks to enhance the well-being of pets, offering customized solutions that cater to their unique requirements, moving away from generalized approaches to pet care. Users can create profiles for their furry friends and input previous health data. Our algorithm will analyze the health issue at hand and provide unique product plans for users to explore.
PetCurex received a $10,000 grant and acceptance into Ivey's Morrissette Entrepreneurial Summer Internship (accelerator), where I worked full time alongside 13 other student entrepreneurs to bring PetCurex to life. I participated in workshops, pitch events, and networking sessions to expand my entrepreneurial visions. After onboarding a University of Waterloo student-engineer, PetCurex is currently in its development stages and is seeking pre-seed funding.
PetCurex has been a creative avenue for me to explore my passion for pet health and social innovation. It has allowed me to dive deeper into the pet community and expand my entrepreneurial learnings. While it started as an issue in my home with my dog Leo that I longed to solve, it soon became a life-line connecting me to other passionate pet owners and an opportunity to explore my love for entreprenurship.
