My name is Sarah Saunders, and I am a graduate student with Athabasca university in the Masters of Health Studies program. I have created this website to further build my professional online presence while showcasing my accomplishments, aspirations, and dreams. I am also a full time Registered Nurse caring for tiny humans in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a tertiary hospital and a Labour and Delivery Nurse in a rural hospital.

My goals for completing my masters degree is to further understand the healthcare system, allowing me to professionally advance into a leader of healthcare. My passion is teaching and helping others learn their own potential. This program will allow me to bring that passion to life as an educator in healthcare.

Work experience:

2019- Present: Winchester District Memorial Hospital:

As an after hours Charge Nurse it is my responsibility to ensure effective flow and coordination of patient care and movement through the hospital. My knowledge and experiences in the nursing field requires me to provide support and education to all units as needed. The unit I am require to support during after hours include: Medical/surgical unit, Enhanced Care Unit, Complex Continuing Care Unit, Labour and Deliver/Post-partum and the Emergency Department. The after hours Charge Nurses are delegates of management, therefore our duties are not only to the patients but to the staff well.
2019: Algonquin College- Clinical Instructor:
As a clinical instructor I was in charge if bringing a group of nursing students into the field to provide hands on training and real life experiences for our future nurse. I had 16 students split into two different groups in a long term care facility. This is always the first exposure nursing students have to real patients therefore, providing support and knowledge is crucial.
2018-201: Director of Care- Chartwell Retirement
The director of care if responsible for management, assessment and implementation for all aspects of residents healthcare needs. Within this role I had a staff of 30 nurses and PSW's to oversee with 150 residents to monitor care over. As the Director of Care, you are required to work closes with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority to meet accreditation and standards.
2012-2018: Clinical Manager- Outpatient and Family Medical Services
As the clinical manager I was in charge of the patients flow through the clinic, day surgical programs and health teaching and education to staff and patients.
2010-2012: Yang Medicine
2008-2009: Ottawa Civic Hospital
