The Invisible Island is an island in the Bermuda Triangle. It mysteriously appears when there are bad weather conditions, then disappears again. The Explorer (Player) becomes shipwrecked there and slowly discovers the secret of the island. The design for the Invisible Island took inspiration from mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle.
Aliens called the Valen originally came to the island promising the people that they would give them immortality. The humans believed every word they said to the point of building a Temple in honour of them. However, the Valen actually wanted to experiment on the people and they end up being turned into mutants.
The explorer meets the Store Keeper, a member of the rebel alliance, and agrees to fight with three Valen commanders in the hope of turning everyone on the island back to normal.
A short game based around the 1960's cult television series The Prisoner. The focus of the game is on Episode 6 (The General). Number 6 finds out that people in the village are being controlled by a mind control machine. To destroy the device the player must complete a challenge by collecting different iconic objects. If the player collects all the objects, then the mind control machine will be destroyed, resulting in an explosive ending. However, if the player is caught by Rover they will not succeed and will be sent back to the main menu.
This was a team project where we were asked to work in groups of three people to design a game suitable for a mobile phone. The game we designed was called 'Hell Runner'. The player, a demon, had to survive through levels of enemies. The focus of the game was to avoid oncoming attacks similar to a bullet hell game in a grid format. The project gave me the opportunity to use Pixel Art to design and animate various small hell-based characters.
The concept of Oscar The Octopus was based around the real-life escape of Inky the Octopus from an Aquarium in New Zealand. Inky actually escaped by climbing out of his aquarium when the lid was left ajar. He slithered across the floor, then dived down a pipe which led out to the Ocean.
In Oscar The Octopus the player must escape a lab by using his abilities, including climbing walls like a spider and picking up multiple objects.
A crime scene was shown to us and we had to reproduce all the elements we saw. The environment was recreated within Virtual Reality, replicating techniques which might be used with a real crime scene, to aid the police and produce evidence which could presented in Court. The crime scene showed items which might be used in preparation for a terrorist attack.
The objective of the advanced model unit was to create a very detailed model. The model which I chose to produce was a helicopter.
An island floating high up in the sky as far as the eyes can see. This environment has muted sunset colours and the scenes are paired with atmospheric music. It also incorprates fantasy objects, such as a flying zeppelin. The idea of Island in the Sky was inspired by Studio Ghibli movies like Castle in the Sky and El Mañana by Gorillaz.
After developing the Island in the Sky environment, an animation was used for it. A man piloting an airship finds himself going past a lighthouse. However, something strange happens...
The building was designed for the Shire Company in Bromsgrove as a college project, following the guidelines they set for a proposed annexe. The style of the building needed to be in keeping with the main Shire building, which was a converted Chapel and also with buildings in the surrounding area, which had been part of a psychiatric hospital complex. A small video was rendered image by image within 3DS Max and then the images were edited in DaVinci Resolve. I also gained experience in using Floor Planner for the design of the rooms and Quixel Mixer for creating/mixing materials.
Overflow is a platformer game that follows the main character Deluge who is captured by snails, cubes and mushrooms whilst looking for treasure. Deluge jumps from platform to platform whilst killing enemies in order to escape rising liquids and claim the treasure. Overflow was inspired by “The Killing Floor” and “Mario”.
A pandemic has occurred which has driven people insane. People no longer have full control over their minds and bodies and have become like zombies. Post-Apocalyptic has ghostly sounds and blowing leaves. It portrays a bleak and desolate empty land. The theme for Post-Apocalyptic was inspired by buildings within Chernobyl and games such as The Last of Us.
