About the Santiago Sanchez Foundation

The Santiago Sanchez Foundation was established to honor the legacy of community service in Laredo, Texas. For over four decades, we have organized the Hamilton Trophies Guajolote 10K Race and 1 Mile Walk — Laredo's longest-running community event.

What began as a local Thanksgiving morning race has grown into a foundation that changes lives. By linking race participation to scholarship eligibility, we've created a unique model where community fitness directly drives educational opportunity. Students who run the Guajolote 10K at least twice qualify for our scholarship program, which funds their education at Laredo College.

Our Mission:

To award scholarships to high school juniors and seniors who have participated in the Guajolote 10K at least twice, enabling them to attend Laredo College. To organize the annual Guajolote 5k & 10k Races as a community health and wellness event accessible to all Laredo residents.

501(c)(3) Status:

The Santiago Sanchez Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.
