Air Operations [AirOps] is a subdivision within the San Andreas Highway Patrol and sees it as its mission to provide Safety, Service and Security from the air. AirOps will assist and help Law Enforcement and Fire-Rescue in carrying out different missions, such as pursuit, search and rescue and general aviation knowledge. The primary mission is to provide Air Support for ground units and assist in criminal apprehension. This may be done by acting as an observation post, directing ground units and pursuing suspects from the air. It is also our mission to assist in rescue operations where an airborne unit may be advantageous.
All Air Operators are Law Enforcement Officers in the State of San Andreas. All Operators have a set amount of duties which they are expected to perform, but the main duty is to always prevent injury or death. While all scenarios and situations may vary, you are still expected to remain professional and respectful towards everyone.
Patrolling and responding to call-assignments
AirOps patrols from the air and ensures no crimes are being committed. If a crime is witnessed the Operators shall call it in on dispatch and guide ground units to the location. AirOps may also attach to call-assignments and observe the situation from above.
Surveillance
AirOps may be dispatched to observe suspected criminals or surveil known criminal areas. This includes - but is not limited to - observing Individuals, Vehicles, Residences, Buildings and areas. Any criminal activity observed shall be relayed to patrol units who then can take appropriate action. The unit can also be used to observe a crowd and gather intelligence.
Pursuits
One of the most common duties for AirOps is to assist in the pursuit of criminals. This includes both vehicle and foot pursuits.
Search
AirOps is tasked with assisting in the search for missing people, wanted individuals or lost hikers.
Rescue
The unit has the capability to rescue individuals in remote areas, or in places where it is not possible to reach with rescue vehicles. The helicopters are also
equipped with Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) that may be used when necessary.
Assisting other agencies
When called upon, AirOps should respond to situations where an aerial platform has been deemed necessary for the operation.
