Field Trip Plans
This field trip to the University Animal Science Complex served as a vital experiential learning opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world career pathways in the animal science industry. By transitioning from a facilitator-led "Think, Pair, Share" interest approach to direct engagement with industry experts like Alli Raymond and Dr. Ty Schmidt, students were able to visualize themselves in diverse roles ranging from recruitment and anatomy research to meat processing. This immersive experience was designed to help students identify specific career pathways and understand how academic research at the university level directly impacts agricultural production and animal welfare. By utilizing guided question cards, students actively took ownership of their learning, allowing them to connect their personal interests to the broader professional landscape they will explore in our upcoming career unit.
